The design for the 2016 season needed to be general and a bit abstract – to avoid details like setting, time and place (and we couldn’t use people). The goal was to be bold and colorful, classy, traditional-but-modern.

The 4-heart knot design was meant for both shows, differentiated by color palette, but the Artistic Director wanted palm trees for South Pacific. Thus, the two representations of that show. La Traviata was a separate collaboration with another arts company.

For the 2015 Season, I considered keeping the look-and-feel for the shows separate, but because of the need to advertise and market them simultaneously, I decided on a combined approach, using the parasol as a unifying image. I wanted to honor the history of the shows and ALO’s traditional aesthetic, but execute in a way that could only be modern.
